Súčasné možnosti terapie relaps-remitujúcej formy sklerózy multiplex

Skleróza multiplex (SM) patrí medzi autoimunitné zápalové ochorenie postihujúce myelín centrálnej nervovej sústavy (CNS) (1). Zaraďuje sa medzi najčastejšie chronické netraumatické neurologické ochorenia mladých produktívnych ľudí a má mnoho foriem. Tou úvodnou je relaps-remitujúca forma, ktorá sa dá ovplyvniť farmakologicky – imunomodulačnou liečbou (2). Aj vďaka nej platí, že SM nie je zatiaľ vyliečiteľné ochorenie, ale je už liečiteľné, pretože súčasná farmakoterapia nám zabraňuje v progresii tohto ochorenia a zabezpečuje vyššiu kvalitu života pacientom (1).

The current therapeutic options for relapsing-remiting form of multiple sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is one of the autoimmune, inflammatory diseases affecting myelin of the central nervous system (1). It belongs between the most common chronic, non-traumatic neurological disease of young productive people and has many forms. The initial phase is the relapsing-remitting form which can be influenced by pharmacology – immunomodulatory therapy (2). It is true that MS is not yet curable disease, but it is medicable disease because current options of pharmacotherapy are preventing progression of the disease and ensure a higher quality of patient life (1).
