Vasectomy and its possible complications
Vasectomy is a safe and effective method of male contraception, and although it is a simple elective procedure, it can be associated with potential minor and major complications as well as a certain rate of failure (early or late). The minimally invasive technique reduces the occurrence of early postoperative complications, and the use of cauterization or fascial interposition reduces the risk of contraceptive failure. Therefore, detailed preoperative counseling and careful assessment of the ejaculate after vasectomy for the presence and mobility of sperm are essential. Insufficient patient information and absent documentation can lead to problems in the event of a lawsuit. The article summarizes current medical knowledge about vasectomy.
