REVIEW OF ANTITHROMBOTIC TREATMENT IN ACUTE CORONARY SYNDROMES WITHOUT ST-ELEVATION
Antithrombotic treatment is a cornerstone in the therapy of patients with acute coronary syndromes without ST-elevation (NSTE-ACS). Antithrombotic treatment is comprised of antiaggregation (anti-platelet) and anticoagulation therapy. Appropriate, and almost always combined, antithrombotic treatment ensures significant reduction of mortality, myocardial infarction and recurrent ischemic episodes in patients with NSTE-ACS. Such patients benefit from combined antithrombotic treatment when managed conservatively as well as invasively. This review contains basic knowledge and guidelines for most widely used antiaggregation and anticoagulation therapy of patients with NSTE-ACS.
