New imaging methods in the diagnosis of prostate cancer
Prostate cancer is among the most widespread types of malignant tumors in the male population. The primary goal of imaging methods is to obtain a more accurate characterization of the disease – early detection of a clinically significant process, local stage progression, early detection of recurrence and metastatic spread, reliable assessment of response to treatment, etc. In this article, the current situation in prostate cancer imaging is outlined with an effort to draw attention to potential possibilities that may be applied in clinical practice in the near future.
