The most common mistakes in diagnostics of multiple sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune, inflammatory and neurodegenerative disorder of central nervous system. The clinical presentation and course of the disease are highly variable, MS is most commonly characterized by relapsing symptoms which ultimately result in disability. Early effective treatment is the only prevention of disability progression. There is no laboratory test definitively sufficient to diagnose MS, which, despite revised sets of criteria, remains mainly a clinical one. The misdiagnosis of SM common and has significant consequences for patient care.
