Hyaluronic acid and wound healing
Hyaluronic acid (HA) discovered by Meyer and Palmer in 1934, is natural polysacharid of human body composed from two molecules: N-acetylglucosamine and N-glucuronic acid. It belongs to the group of glycosaminoglycans. HA occur as a part of intercellular substance of connective tisssue, vitreous body, synovial liquid, navelwort, cartillages, skin and mucosa (1). Because of hygroscopic, rheologic, viscoelastic and antioxidant and antiradical properties is frequently used in aestehetic dermatology, rheumatology, orthopedics and in wound healing. (2). Presented paper sumarize the knowledges about utilization of HA in the field of wound healing.
