Perfusion (not only) of diabetic foot through the camera lens
Photoplethysmography camera imaging (PPGI) offers a unique way to monitor peripheral perfusion, focusing on a variety of applications in the research or clinical field. This non-contact method, which operates with spatial resolution using camera sensors, allows physicians and specialists to visualize in real time the perfusion of tissues at different locations of the area under investigation. Our aim is to highlight the potential of this technology to be used in a wide range of applications, including cardiac monitoring, assessment of the body’s vasomotor responses or allergic reactions. A major potential of this method could also be to improve the diagnosis and monitoring of tissue perfusion in patients with diabetic foot, where it can provide crucial help in identifying complications and improving the prognosis of these patients. Overall, PPGI is a promising and innovative technology that may complement the methodology by which physicians monitor and treat vascular disease.
