Combined mechanical thrombectomy for acute cerebral venous sinus thrombosis – case study
Purpose: Acute cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVT) is a relative rare vascular disorder that can lead to significant morbidity and mortality. The clinical picture is very variable and relatively nonspecific, often prolonging its diagnosis and adequate treatment. Anticoagulant therapy is a standard part of CVT therapy, but some patients remain refractory to drug management and require more aggressive treatment. Case report: We present the case of a young patient with acute CVT, in whom, due to the deterioration of the clinical condition, a successful combined mechanical thrombectomy was performed. Conclusion: MT may be a safe and effective alternative for selected patients with CVT, in which systemic anticoagulation fails.
