Chronic venous disorders. Compressive and surgical treatment
Chronic venous disorders (CVD) belong to the most frequent chronic diseases in civilized countries and have great impact on the health, quality of life of patients. Their socioceonomic impact is substantial, as well. Therefor prevention, early diagnosis and corect management of these diseases are very important. The necessity of this contribution has resulted from the fact that level of management of CVD in this country is not appropriate because of improper diagnostics and management. This paper is based mainly on the International guidelines on the management of chronic venous disorders of the lower limbs and new Slovak guidelines on the management of CVD. Venous disorders are much more complex than the peripheral occlusive arterial diseases (PAOD). Contemporary literature reflects a huge progress of knowledge of etiopathogenesis, diagnostics and therapy of CVD in particular the duplex ultrasound scanning and evolution of novel methods of surgical treatment of varicous veins. This paper has the ambition to improve knowledge of vascular specialists on CVD and CVI and in such a way also the level of management of these diseases.
