Multipartite patella in a football player – a case report and literature review

The authors of this paper describe a case of a 20-year old patient, an active football player with a multipartite patella.They present the diagnostic methods, operative options, the rehabilitation scheme and time of return to full sport activity. The introduction includes facts about the history of diagnostics and the treatment of a multipartite patella, as well as its clasification. In the disscusion they present new findings on the etiology of the change from a asymptomatic to symptomatic multipartite patella and new insights and approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of a symptomatic multipartite patella.
