Upside down stomach and its complications
The prevalence of hiatus hernia significaly increases with old age. The extreme form is upside down stomach, which causes obstructive syndroma when surgical treatment is necessary. Autor presents case report of the incarcerated hiatus hernia associated with stomach perforation. On the surgical department was admitted 83 years old woman with anamnesis of the vomitus and pain in the epigastrium. Patient has a few years hiatal hernia without treatement. For the progresion of the clinical signs was performed laparotomy. Postoperative course was complicated with abdominal compartment syndroma, anuria and cardial decompensation. This case report mentioned on this very rare complication of the untreated hiatal hernia.
