Haemorrhagic shock as a consequnce of widespread liver rupture – first manifestation of hepatocelullar adenoma
Hepatocelular adenoma (HCA) is relatively rare liver tumor. It occurs mainly in young and middle – aged women. It is in connection with the use of oral contraceptives and steroids. Massive bleeding may be the first manifestation of this tumor. The authors present a case report of 43 – years old woman who was brought to the Department of Emergency Medicine in hemorrhagic shock. Immediate CT scan of the abdomen was done and patient suspected of left liver lobe rupture was directly transported to the operating room. In urgent surgery, extensive rupture of the left lobe of the liver was found to be the cause of massive bleeding. From liver resect after bisegmentectomy (segment II and III) was histologically confirmed hepatocelullar adenoma.
