Serious suicide attempt in an adolescent with asperger syndrome: a case report
Asperger syndrome is a neurodevelopmental disorder, characterized by impaired social communication and by repetitive, stereotyped patterns of behavior. The disorder is rarely recognized during adolescence. Pacients with Asperger syndrome match a high-risk profile for affective disorders, conduct disorders and psychoactive substance abuse. Previous studies have shown a high-risk of suicide in these patients. The presented case study illustrates the issue of unexpected suicide behaviour in patient with autism spectrum disorder. It is focused on a comprehensive psychiatric diagnostics and the psychological profile of personality.
