Risk factors of suicidal behavior in adolescence
Prevalence of chosen clinical symptoms in association with suicidal behaviour was studied in the sample of 522 adolescents (62.5 % girls, average age 17.8 ± 1.0 years). They filled the questionaire in regarding sociodemographic data, suicidal behavior, depression, anxiety and social anxiety. Data were statistically analyzed using t-test for two independent samples and with using linear regression analysis. Significant suicidal behavior gender differences were not revealed. Adolescent girls were more depressive, anxious and reported higher social phobia than boys. Less score in depression in the whole sample, presented religiosity and less score in anxiety in girls were significant predictors of suicidal ideation. Decreasing depressive and anxious symptoms might play important role in reduction of suicidal ideation in the sample of adolescents, predominantly in girls.
