LIDSKÉ PRIONOVÉ NEMOCI
Prion diseases in spite of their low prevalence play an important role in differential diagnosis of dementia. It diagnosis is currently based on clinical manifestation and auxiliary examinations (EEG, MRI, protein 14-3-3). Final diagnosis is neuropathological. Diagnosis of human prion diseases is in the Czech Republic coordinated by a National referential laboratory of human TSE/CJN. The paper summarizes briefly the topic of human prion diseases, presents a case report of a sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in a 51 year old female patient.
