Importance of enteral nutrition in out-patient doctors‘ offices
Artificial nutrition has became a routine therapeutic procedure in patients with various acute and chronic diseases who are suffering from, or those, who are at risk of developing malnutrition. Malnutrition results in worsening of wound healing, developing of immunosupression with infectious complications, prolonging of hospital stay, as well as increased mortality and morbidity. Nutritional support is therefore basic precondition for successful treatment and lack of using it in indicated cases can negatively influence the course of illness. If permitted by patients’ conditions, enteral nutrition is a preferred way of malnutrition therapy.
