Vitamin D and multiple sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis is often referred to as a disease of the temperate zones. The incidence of multiple sclerosis in the population correlates with the distance from the equator. In this context, association of the occurrence of this disease is examined with the actual level of vitamin D in the human organism. The article explores the relationship between vitamin D deficiency and the relapses of multiple sclerosis. It summarises the development of findings in this area in the recent years.
