The effective and safe therapy of bronchial asthma during pregnancy
Bronchial asthma is one of the most common chronic disease in pregnant women. The drug treatment of bronchial asthma in pregnancy is no different from in non-pregnant women. The most drugs used to treat asthma appears to be safe. The risk of harm to the fetus comes from poorly controlled asthma rather than from drugs used to prevent or treat this disease during pregnancy. Because of concern about healthy fetal development, pregnant women often stop anti-asthmatic therapy without consulting a specialist and increase the risk of asthma exacerbation. Pharmacists play an important role in reducing the risk of exacerbation of asthma. The pharmacists advise doctors about appropriate therapy, educate pregnant women about the correct use of inhalers, adherence to the right lifestyle and about the importance of well-controlled bronchial asthma during pregnancy.
