Current treatment options for chronic heart failure
Heart failure in the developed world is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality and poses a growing economic burden on health systems of industrialized countries. In European countries and the USA the cost of treatment reached 1 – 3 % of total health care costs. The incidence of congestive heart failure continues to grow worldwide and the results of epidemiological studies suggest that in the future we expect further increases in prevalence and incidence of heart failure (1).
