The diet of a nursing mother − a factor causing infantile colic
Breast milk is an optimal and balanced source of food for infants. In practice, we encounter the reaction of a breastfed child to the mother‘s diet with colic and abdominal pain. The mechanism of this phenomenon was not known until now, and therefore mothers often receive information that breast milk is made from blood and not from the stomach, and therefore the mother‘s diet has no effect on colic or abdominal pain in breastfed children. However, it seems that with the help of the available studies, it was finally possible to clarify the influence of the mother‘s diet on the digestion and health status of the breastfed child through biochemical changes in the mother‘s blood and depending on the health status of her gastrointestinal tract.
