Moist therapy wound dressings
There are many ways of treating wounds in medical practice, it is important to choose the right method that best suits the problem. We have to take account of the type and condition of the wound, but also the financial demands and the availability of treatment, the patient’s comfort and the duration of treatment. Modern dressings work on the principle of moist wound environment, therefore the term moist therapy is used. It is a modern way of wound treatment in all three phases of healing – purification, granulation and epithelialization. For the moist therapy are mainly used hydrocolloids, alginates, semipermeable occlusive dressings, non-adhesive foam dressings and foam dressings.
