Possibilities for improving pharmaceutical care for patients with mental disorders in public pharmacies
Statistical outputs on the number of examined patients in outpatient clinics and on the consumption of medicines used in the Slovak Republic indicate a high frequency of psychiatric patients in public pharmacies. The close correlation of mental disorders with cardiometabolic disorders requires the need for effective and high-quality pharmaceutical care for patients with mental disorders, as a pharmacist in a public pharmacy is involved in primary care. Increasing the quality and efficiency of pharmaceutical care will be achieved by better education of pharmacists in the field of clinical psychiatry and pharmacy and by using all available information from the patient´s medical record.
