Pharmacy emergency service – what did the amendment of law bring in practice?

Background: Pharmacy emergency service is used to provide pharmaceutical care outside the approved working hours of pharmacies. Method of realization of this service was changed in 2018. Methods: The work has the character of a questionnaire survey, from which n=1 598 completed questionnaires were included to the final evaluation. Results: Due to the location of the medicine emergency service some pharmacies with pharmacy emergency service have become unavailable to the patients. Conclusion: After implementing this change is also a prerequisite for worsening the economic condition of pharmacies, when personnel and operating costs increase at the same time the number of patients decreases.
