Pharmacist interventions in the prevention and treatment of selected skin diseases
Skin diseases (cutaneous disorders) is currently one of the most frequent diseases not only in our country but also in the world. Some of the diseases include atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, acne, fungal and viral skin disease. Most of those diseases are accompanied by uncomfortable symptoms (such as itching, redness, tenderness, bad appearance) which can degrade the quality of life of patients suffering from the diseases to a considerable extent. Although we have nowadays effective drugs for treating the diseases available, not all of the diseases can be cured properly by using them, and in most cases these drugs only suppress the symptoms of the diseases. The aim of our article is to describe briefly basic options of pharmacists in the prevention and treatment of selected dermatological diseases by using drugs available on prescription only but also non-prescription drugs and nutritional supplements.
