Rare dual meningococcal pneumococcal invasive infection with fatal outcome in a 19-month-old infant
The aim of this paper was to highlight the high severity of an infection caused by a combination of invasive strains of Neisseria meningitidis and Streptococcus pneumoniae, which led to the death of a 19-month-old infant. Also, point out the importance of intensive cooperation between public health authorities and healthcare supervision authorities (pathological-anatomical-forensic medicine workplaces) in the identification, confirmation and final typing of the etiological agent of a serious, transmissible and monitored disease. In this case report we present a well-documented clinical and laboratory fatal case of a child with an unusual invasive disease caused by two pathogens.
