NEONATAL OUTCOME ACCORDING THE WAY OF DELIVERY IN WOMEN WITH CESAREAN BIRTH IN HISTORY

Lack of evidence of randomized, controlled and prospective study, which could asses neonatal outcome according the way of delivery in women with cesarean birth in history, is causing anxiety during decission process at the end of pregnancy. We compare the need of hospitalization in intensive care unit, antibiotic treatment or ventilation support for children in women with cesarean birth in history according the way of delivery. We devided 197 babies born in study period to 197 women to the group born by vaginal birth (67; 34 %), born by cesarean section (130; 66 %) and these in detail for group of babies born by elective cesarean section (80; 40,6 %) and group of babies born by emergency cesarean section (50; 24,4 %). Followed parameters were statistically significantly more frequently among the babies born by emergency cesarean section in comparison with babies born by vaginal birth or elective cesarean section. Term babies born by vaginal birth did not show higher risk in comparison with babies born by elective cesarean section.

Keywords: vaginal birth after cesarean section, emergency cesarean section, elective cesarean section, neonatal outcome.
