Infectious endocarditis prevention in pediatric population
Infective endocarditis is defined as inflammatory disease of the endocardium characterised by presence of infectious vegetations on heart valves or wall endocardium. It is caused by bacteria, fungi, chlamydiae, ricketsiae or viruses. Since the prognosis of infective endocarditis is serious, it is necessary to adhere to preventive hygienic measures and when indicated to use antibiotic prevention.
