Non-infectious causes of sore throat in children
Sore throat is a common symptom in both children and adults, with a diverse etiology. It can be caused by infectious agents (viruses, bacteria) as well as non-infectious factors (allergies, reflux, environmental factors). Respiratory infections are common in children, while non-infectious causes are more diverse and include physical and chemical factors, environmental influences, and underlying diseases. Diagnosis and treatment of sore throat require differential diagnosis and consideration of the patient’s overall health status.
