Tetralogy of Fallot
The congenital heart defect, historically known by the name of „blue baby“, first described a Danish anatomist Neils Stensen 350 years ago. Later on, in 1888, Ettienne-Louis Arthur Fallot discussed the syndrome „la Maladieu bleu“ with its four distinct features exactly as we know till today. It is a combination of pulmonary artery stenosis (PS), subaortic ventricular septal defect (VSD), overriding aorta, and hypertrophy of the right ventricle (HRV). There are several anatomical variations of TOF described, with their different clinical outcomes and various patient management approaches.
