Mucosal melanoma of the head and neck
Melanoma arising from the mucosal surfaces of the head and neck is a very rare malignant disease mainly situated in sinonasal and oral regions. Compared to the other malignant tumors in head and neck localisation, mucosal melanoma has an outstanding position due to his distinct biological aggressiveness. Frequent locoregional recurrences, distant metastasis, poor multimodality treatment control and high mortality rate confirm the gravity of this disease.
