SLOVAK NATIONAL BONE MARROW DONOR REGISTRY
Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation is the treatment option for certain haematologic and nonhaematologic diseases. Only 25 – 30 % of patiens have HLA identical sibling donor. Bone marrow donor registries of HLA typed donors started to develop in 80‘s of 20th century. The availibility of matched unrelated donor from registry allowed the development of haematopoietic stem cell transplantations from alternative donors. HLA match is one of the key factor of unrelated haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Slovak national bone marrow donor registry began to work in 1995 at the Clinic of Haematology and Blood Transfusion at the University Hospital in Bratislava. It provides the search of unrelated haematopoietic stem cell donor for adults and children from Slovak Republic, recruitment of new donors, courrier details in work up process. The aim of our presentation is to restrospective analyse the activity of Slovak National Bone Marrow Donor Registry.
