Psychological aspects of life after oncological treatment
Cancer bring many changes (biological, psychological, social, economic) and demands to patients‘ lives. The predisposition of the patient to optimism may be decisive, which affects the patient‘s ability to assess, cope and adapt to the stressful circumstances of the disease and the possible irreversible consequences of treatment. The word „cancer“ still evokes in the society the dismay and notion of irreversible death associated with long and severe dying, causing excessive psychological stress. Many patients show depressive and anxiety symptoms, sleep disorders and cognitive disorders, not only during treatment but during remission too. The article is dedicated to the influence of oncological treatment and cancer on the life after the end of treatment.
