Physical activity in patients after oncological treatment

Although physical activity is known to be an important and accepted component in the rehabilitation process of cancer patients, exerciseoncology has gained new insight only in the last decade. It is mainly related to new knowledge concerning the mechanisms of effects of exercise not only on physical fitness, but also on several other processes (e.g. immune, hormonal, cognitive and mental). Current knowledge about the importance of physical activity and its benefit in oncological patients result from clinical observational and several randomized controlled studies. Recently published recommendations regarding the effects of physical activity in cancer patients also provide useful information.
