Differential diagnostics of pulmonary infiltrative process in a patient with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) – case report
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) remains the mostcommon type of leukemia andinfectious complications continue to be one of the principal causes of morbidity and mortality in patients with this disorder. The spectrum of organisms causing infections in these patients is changing from common bacterial organisms to less common opportunistic pathogens such as Pneumocystis, Listeria, mycobacteria, herpesviruses, and Candida. Case report describes a 60-year-old male with CLL and severe pulmonary infiltrative process. This case report documents the difficulty in differential diagnostics invasive pulmonary process in hemato-oncological patient. Rapid, in-time diagnosis and appropriate therapy are the key factors for decreasing mortality in patients at risk.
