Accelerated partial breast irradiation
Accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) is an approach that treats only the place of highest risk of local recurrence – lumpectomy bed plus adjacent margin, rather than the whole breast. This method of adjuvant treatment is becoming important component of the breast conserving management in mammary cancer. This paper deals with reasons for APBI, different methods and clinical outcome.
