Psychosomatic aspects in trichology
Psychology and medicine are based on psychosomatic unity. Psychological processes affect the physical side and the somatic state affects the psyche. The significant impact of psychology is shown on the entire spectrum of the diseases, trichology is no exception. Hairs play a significant role in the physical attractiveness and an expression of the personal individuality. Hair growth disorders determine how attractive a person feels. For the patients with the hair loss it is difficult to live in a society that emphasizes perfectionism, youthful appearance and attractiveness. They are confronted with a drop in self-confidence, social isolation and phobia, they often suffer from the depression, sleep disorders and anxiety. We are exposed to a lot stressful situations nowadays, which cause emotional reactions with the somatic accompainment. Mental influences are often involved in the onset, aggravation and retreat of the hair diseases, which do not have an organic cause.
