Multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of pressure ulcers/injury
Pressure ulcers/injury are a serious health, social and economic problem. The most effective treatment is to prevent them. If prevention is not sufficient, or if pressure ulcer occurs despite proper prevention, adequate treatment is required. Treatment requires multidisciplinary cooperation not only at the level of local wound treatment, but also in systemic therapy of the patient as a whole. Extensive recommendations for pressure ulcer/injury prevention and treatment are published by the National (NPIAP) and European (EPUAP) Advisory Panel and the Pan Pacific Alliance (PPPIA).
