Launois-Bensaude syndrome
The case reports a 56-year-old man with benign symmetric lipomatosis (Launois-Bensaude syndrome) showing massive symmetrical fatty deposits in the regions of the neck, shoulder, upper arm and thorax. This rare benign disease is most frequently associated with chronic alcoholism and hepatopathy what has been confirmed in our case. Patients mostly suffer more mentally than physically from the disfigurement of their body. In severe cases complications occur and have to be solved by a chirurgical intervention. The therapy is difficult with frequent relapses. Liposuction is a method of treatment combined with complementary therapy.
