Arthropod-related cutaneous manifestations
Arthropods (Arthropoda) represent the most speciose group of organisms in the animal kingdom, forming a significant part of biological diversity. As for the taxonomy classification system, this phylum covers a number of important groups with medical importance, among which the insect class (Insecta) is considered the most dominant. There are also great number of arthropod species in Slovakia, that have the potential to cause various skin reactions. At the same time, many of the representatives are of crucial epidemiological importance in the transmission of pathogens. Skin findings at the site of contact with the body surface are often typical, even pathognomic, and their knowledge contributes to the correct diagnosis and treatment in the context of a thorough medical history.
