Continuity of an actinic keratosis and a squamous cell carcinoma
The incidence of non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) is increasing steadily in Slovakia and worldwide. Since NMSC is derived from epidermal keratinocytes,it is preferable to rename it to keratinocyte cancer (KC) (1). Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma is the second most common form of NMSC and acount for approximately 20% of these tumors, may develop de novo, but usually develops from precursor lesions (actinic keratosis, Bowen´s disease). Work updates view on diagnosis and treatment of these diseases.
