Current view on skin photoprotection
Skin photoprotection is a complex of protective measures preventing unwanted and harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation on skin. It consists of behavioral precautions, avoidance of midday sun, wearing of photoprotective clothing and aplication of sunscreens. Special attention is needed in protection of children and immunosupressed patients. Very controversial is vitamin D – its role in human body, optimal serum level and its partial dependance on exposition to ultraviolet radiation. Patients‘ education ensured by theirs dermatologists and by public health campaigns is crucial in effective primary prevention of skin cancer.
