Antibiotic treatment in critically ill patients

In critically ill patients is due to pathophysiological changes the problem of proper dosing and the way antibiotics are administered. As ATB treatment is to be initiated as soon as possible after identification of sepsis, it is necessary to know the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the individual substances and to choose the most appropriate antibiotic already in the empirical treatment. Consideration should also be given to the penetration of ATB into the tissue in which the source of sepsis is predicted to be antibiotic resistance at the site. Authors at their workplace prepared a table, which is an annex to this article with data on antibiotics used. It was developed on the basis of literary data, recommendations, and review of resistance in the workplace of authors for 2016 and 1st quarter 2017. This table helps physicians in their workplace when deciding on ATB treatment.
