THE SPECIFICS OF ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION IN SENIORS

Improvement of the socioeconomical situation in the developed countries is connected with increasing of the senior population. Incidention of arterial hypertension is reaching up to 90 % in this group and is linked with polymorbidity in most of these patients. It typically occurs as an isolated systolic hypertension that is associated with a high risk of cardiovascular diseases. The medical care should be aimed at the arrangement of life-style and pharmacotherapy. Pharmacotherapy generally requires combined therapy with adjustment of dosing which is relative to the individuality of distribution and elimination in senior age.
