The XI. Congress of the European Union Geriatric Medicine Society (EUGMS) was held in the Norwegian capital Oslo on 16th – 18th September 2015. Geriatrics future for Europeans – Successful aging creates new challenges was the main motto of the negotiations. The hallmark of the present time is the growing proportion of the senior population (for seniors are conventionally considered individuals older than 65 years). This is a relatively new phenomenon that began to emerge in developed countries. Gradually it appears already in the less developed areas of the world. Modern medical sciences prolong people’s lives by sophisticated processes but the effort of geriatricians is that elderly people spent more years of old age in health, most self-sufficient with an emphasis on quality of life.
