Investigation of the obese patient in clinical practice
Obesity is characterised by higher as normal portion of fat in the body. It is necesary to distinguish visceral obesity, which is the main cause of its comlications. Investigation of obese patient is based on patient´s health history, physical and laboratory examinations. The main antropometric indices used in the praxis are body mass index and waist circumference. Obesity is chronic, long-life disease, therefore patient requires a long time follow-up, especially of clinical state, diet habits and physical activity.
