THROMBOEMBOLISM – PREVENTION AND THERAPY

Pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) ranks among the most frequent nondiagnosed acute diseases in medical practice. PTE is a major publichealth problem with necessity of improvement as well prevention as therapy. The hazards are in the clinical practice frequently underestimated and in omission of suitable prevention the patients are exposed to high risk of PTE. Thromboprophylaxis is recommended especially in patients with risk and disposal factors hospitalised because of acute internal or surgical illness.
