Treatment of obesity in general practice for adults
Obesity is a chronic metabolic disease characterised by multifactorial aetiology. It concerns 21% men and 31% women within European countries, while over 50% of citizens suffer from overweight and obesity. Over last 10 years the number of obese people has risen to so rapidly causing the disease affects nearly 150 million European citizens. Therefore the World Health Organisation classified obesity to be the pandemic of 21th century.
