DECISION STRATEGY OF GENERAL PRACTITIONER IN POST-STROKE PATIENTS REHABILITATION

Post-stroke patients rehabilitation is actual not only from the medical, but also from the social point of view. Stroke is a serious condition with a high mortality rate and in addition 25 % of post-stroke patients remain in a permanent disability. According to the recent knowledge rehabilitation treatment is the essential component of the treatment in the acute stage of illness and different forms of rehabilitation remain actual in persons suffering from impairments of various kind and range. Home environment is often the only one in where the patient lives the remaining part of his live and the general practitioner plays the key role in the provision of health care including the appropriate rehabilitation treatment. The paper describes the parts of the post-stroke rehabilitation from the practical point of view. it introduces the basic indication and decision criteria for the right choice of the forms and the place of rehabilitation. These data should help the general practitioner in everyday care of the post-stroke patients.
