Determination of high-sensitivity CRP as a predictor of cardiovascular risk in terms of general practice for adults

Significance of elevated levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) measured by highly sensitive method in the low (normal) concentrations has been known for more than 15 years. Increased concentration of high-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) is an indicator of increased cardiovascular risk. It’s possible to measure hs-CRP in laboratory or directly in general practice by point-of-care analyzer. The most suitable approach is to investigate hs-CRP in asymptomatic patients with moderate cardiovascular risk according to the SCORE (1-4 %).
