SECONDARY PREVENTION IN ACUTE MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION

Secondary prevention in acute myocardial infarction (AIM) includes medical approches and lifestyle changes, which should lead towards reduction of complications of AIM, recurrence of AIM and avoiding the progression of coronary aterosclerosis . There is a 5 – 7 fold higher risk of cardiovascular events in patients with documented coronary heart disease in comaprison with healthy population. The primary aim of the secondary prevention is the decreasing of the impact of the risk factors. Risk factors of the coronary heart disease which can not be eliminated (age, gender, family history) . Risk factors which can be eliminated: primary a): hyperlipoproteinaemia,arterial hypertension and smoking; secondary b): diabetes mellitus, obesity, physical inactivity, emotional distress and others.
